Introducing Our Big Boat!

The grass is growing, flowers and trees are budding, and we are back fishing our local waters here in the Greater Yellowstone Region!

After a long winter, we are excited for the upcoming fishing season. Western River Anglers is taking advantage of our nice spring weather to fish and train our staff. We are proud to have 100% returning guide staff this season. Our aim is to always improve with the goal of excelling and outperforming our competition.

Hope is in the air that the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Western River Anglers is seeing strong early-season bookings and preparing for a very busy summer and fall. As a heads up, we recommend making your reservation for a Western River Anglers fishing trip as soon as possible to ensure availability for your preferred dates.

As always, Western River Anglers will do our best to create a safe and friendly experience. We will continue to offer our flexible cancelation policy as well as our optional COVID safety offerings.

New this year!

Western River Anglers is excited to offer family and group fishing trips in our Big Boat! Designed to accommodate up to five guests (rotating two anglers at a time), our custom Clacka Max drift boat is perfect for families and groups that want to experience a memorable day on the water together.

Also new this year are our extended fishing trips. Designed for anglers who are passionate about fishing and want to stay on the water longer. Extended fishing trips are offered on all our waters (the Snake River, Salt River, Green River/New Fork Rivers, Yellowstone National Park, and Bighorn River). Extended trips last roughly twelve hours in duration and include hotel pickup and drop off in the Jackson Hole area.

We hope you are well and look forward to seeing you on the water. Thank you for choosing Western River Anglers!

Happy Holidays from Western River Anglers!

On behalf of WRA, we’d like to send a huge thanks to our returning guests as well as our first-timers for helping make 2020 such a great season! We did our best to create a safe environment and adopt a very flexible cancelation policy that we’ll continue to use until the pandemic is under control.

As the snow piles up here in the Tetons and we settle down for our long winter naps (not really), we dream of warm summer days on the horizon… exploring our beautiful waters and casting to hungry wild trout.

If you know someone who is already having similar thoughts, consider giving a last-minute gift of a WRA guided trip. We’re offering an early season special of 2020 pricing through March 31. Gift Certificates are available. Please call or email us if you are interested or have any questions. Get your dates booked soon as we are filing in the calendar fast!

Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to fishing with you again soon!

Tight Lines,
Chase & Matt

Social distancing…on the river!

So you’re thinking of coming to Jackson Hole this summer? We would be so excited to see you!

In our minds, there’s no better way to socially distance than to be out on a quiet river while casting a fly to wild and native trout.

Safety is our number one priority at Western River Anglers. With safety in mind, we have developed optional services for you to consider when fishing with us. We’ll contact you before your trip to discuss your individual needs and safety desires.

Our guides are prepared to wear masks when in close proximity and any other time you desire. Guides will provide sanitizer and wipes for frequent use throughout the day. We’ll be offering snacks and drinks (and lunch on full-day trips) in individual pre-packaged servings this summer. Or choose to bring your own food and beverage and we will discount the price of your trip.

Please bring your own mask. We are also offering the option to drive in the safety of your own vehicle. We can meet you at the river and have your vehicle shuttled to the finishing point. Shuttle services have developed a list of protocols for cleaning and sanitizing your vehicle. You can then safely head off on your own at the end of your fishing day.

We’ve also thought of some tips and tricks to maximize your vacation time and keep you and your family safe while experiencing all that Jackson Hole and the surrounding area has to offer.

  1. Book your fishing trip with Western River Anglers! Our calendar is booking up fast. So make your reservation soon and take advantage of our flexible cancellation policy.
  2. Go for a hike. Get outdoors, breath clean fresh air, and exercise in nature. Your body and mind will thank you!
  3. Take a picnic. Jackson Hole is filled with excellent restaurants and eateries. Most businesses are now offering takeout service. Choose your favorite cuisine, grab some beverages, and head to your favorite Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Park getaway with a view.

We hope to fish with you soon!

Dear Friends,

Our thoughts and well wishes go out to you during these times of unprecedented disruption. We sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. You are in our thoughts!

That’s why we offer flexible cancellation terms, so you can book with peace of mind. Reserve a trip with us and enjoy the ability to cancel penalty-free up to 72 hours prior to the trip date. We want you to continue planning your much anticipated Western River Anglers fishing trip!

WRA Guides Grammy-winning Portugal. The Man

Western River Anglers (WRA) continued efforts to give back to the community this August by sponsoring Midsummer Melt, a charity concert with Grammy award-winning band Portugal. The Man. Midsummer Melt benefited the Alpine Science Institute (ASI) of Central Wyoming College and Protect Our Winters (POW). ASI researches and brings attention to receding glaciers in the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming. POW is a nonprofit founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones that brings attention to climate change through utilizing action sport athletes with large social media followings.

As fly fishers dependent on a healthy watershed after each winter, WRA is committed to supporting conservation efforts and practicing environmental responsibility. While catching fish is the main goal of any WRA expedition, we hope to do so humanely and attentively to our impact on local ecosystems.

After Midsummer Melt, WRA was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take Portugal. The Man out on the Snake River. Not only was the fishing trip successful but the Portugal. The Man members represented well, having plenty of outdoors experience. Check out some of these photos…

A Day with City Kids!

At Western River Anglers, while we love taking our clients out on the water, we also love giving back to our community. Last week, we had the opportunity to get involved with City Kids, an organization based in DC that provides kids with experiences outside of the city and outside the classroom.

The organization provides school-year activities and support in DC but then in the summer, the program moves out to Jackson, WY where City Kids provides opportunities for experiential learning, outdoor adventure experiences, and career exploration options for older teens.

We were honored to be able to show some of the City Kids what it’s like to get out on the water and cast a line! Thanks to Frederick Mountain Group who partnered with us for the afternoon to help us continue to show these kids the beauty of Wyoming and adventuring outside.

Hope to see these awesome kids again out on the water soon!
